Fairphone Expands to the US Amid Strong European Growth, Record 2025 Q3 Performance

Fairphone, a company known for its commitment to modular and sustainable electronics, is making a significant entry into the United States market. This strategic expansion, timed with a period of robust sales and growth in 2024 and 2025, underscores the viability of Fairphone’s mission-driven business model, which successfully merges responsible design with commercial expansion.

The initial offering for the US market will be the Fairbuds XL, over-ear headphones renowned for their modularity and repairability. These headphones, available through Amazon in late November 2025, embody Fairphone’s philosophy of creating durable technology. They promise high-quality audio, ease of repair, and are produced with a focus on equitable labor practices throughout their supply chain.

Raymond van Eck, CEO of Fairphone, expressed enthusiasm for the US launch, calling it a “defining moment” that signifies the company’s progress as both a business and a movement advocating for better technology.

“Launching in the United States is a defining moment for Fairphone. It shows how far we have come as a company and as a movement for better technology. The strong momentum we see in Europe and beyond confirms that our model works both ethically and commercially,” he said.

Further, he highlighted the commercial and ethical success of their model, particularly in Europe, and conveyed confidence in their ability to compete by offering durable, fairly produced products with exceptional performance and design. Van Eck believes the US market is increasingly receptive to an electronics industry centered on transparency, repairability, and environmental and social responsibility.

According to van Eck, the world “is ready for a new kind of electronics industry, one built on transparency, repairability, and care for people and the planet.”

This US debut aligns with a growing consumer and legislative interest in repairable electronics and sustainability across America. As of early 2025, “right-to-repair” legislation has been introduced in all 50 states, with numerous states actively debating these measures. Fairphone’s entry is therefore well-timed to meet the rising demand for products designed for longevity and responsible manufacturing.

Strong Q3 2025 Performance Fuels Expansion

The US expansion is bolstered by impressive financial results from the third quarter of 2025. Fairphone reported a 61% increase in revenue compared to Q3 2024, with growth across all product categories. The company’s flagship devices saw a 61% surge, driven by the recent launch of the sustainable and modular Fairphone (Gen. 6). Accessories experienced a substantial 95% increase, spare parts grew by 41%, and audio products saw a 40% rise. Geographically, the United Kingdom saw 48% revenue growth, while the Netherlands led with a 96% increase, followed by France (87%) and Germany (42%).

These figures demonstrate Fairphone’s capacity for steady growth while upholding its core mission, proving that sustainability and ethical practices can coexist with strong business performance and high-quality products.

Improved Financials Reflecting Sustainable Growth

In conjunction with the US market entry, Fairphone has also released its 2024 financial results, indicating significant improvements in profitability and operational efficiency. The company achieved a positive EBITDA of €1.7 million, supported by a 36% increase in gross profit and enhanced cash flow. In 2024, Fairphone sold over 100,000 units, with sales driven by the Fairphone 5 and its Fairbuds audio line.

The combined financial performance of 2024 and the ongoing growth in 2025 clearly illustrate Fairphone’s expanding market presence and its unwavering commitment to producing sustainable, long-lasting electronic devices.

The Fairbuds XL will be available in the United States through Amazon starting in late November 2025, with a recommended retail price of $229.99.
