One of Josh Hartnett‘s big roles since his return to mainstream movies was starring as a serial killer in Trap. In the M. Night Shyamalan film, Hartnett’s character attempts to escape a pop concert after learning the police are setting a trap. It appears that the talented actor will be caught in another trap and searching for an escape. Hartnett will be starring in a new action movie directed by Violent Night‘s Tommy Wirkola.
Tommy Wirkola’s signature style in his movies is a blend of violence and satire. This trend appeared in the Norwegian Dead Snow movies, where students survive a zombie Nazi attack. He also directed Violent Night, where David Harbour played a tough Santa Claus saving a hostage family.
Tommy Wirkola’s got a new action movie in development called All Day & All Night starring and produced by Josh Hartnett. Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters director told Deadline why he felt Hartnett was the right actor for his next movie:
“I’ve been a fan of Josh Hartnett’s work for as long as I can remember and I can’t wait to go make All Day & All Night with him, along with my friends at XYZ.”
What is All Day & All Night with Josh Hartnett about?
Josh Hartnett’s Trap may have had his serial killer character trapped at a pop concert he took his daughter to. But his days of planning his escape aren’t far from him. Directed and co-written by Tommy Wirkola, here is All Day & All Night’s official plot synopsis:
“When his daughter gets into Harvard, reformed bank robber Billy Davies (Hartnett) returns to a life of crime to come up with the tuition money. But when the bank heist goes horribly wrong, he and his crew accidentally stumble onto the set of a failing reality TV show. Now Billy must stay on air long enough to figure out an escape plan from the cops trying to arrest him and the mob trying to kill him, while the producers must keep the show on air long enough to boost their ratings and evade cancellation.”
Production for All Day & All Night begins in 2026. Make sure to keep checking in for casting and release date news.
