We’ve seen a lot of pretty big developments with smartphone processing technology over the past couple of years, and it looks like MediaTek is looking to go all-in with its upcoming chipset—the company recently announced that it’s working with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC) to produce a new chip, according to an official statement from the company.

MediaTek says that the new chip is on track for mass production in late 2026, using TSMC’s 2nm process, based on N2P technology. The company adds that chips produced using N2P will come with 18% better performance, up to 36% reduction in power consumption, as well as a 20% increase in logic density, which essentially means that more components can be fitted into the same space as current N3E chips. Joe Chen, President of MediaTek states:
