Remix brings AI photo editing to Google Messages
The highlight of this November Pixel Drop is Remix in Google Messages, which lets you edit any photo using AI without leaving your conversation. Powered by Gemini’s Nano Banana model, you can transform images on the fly and send them to anyone, regardless of what phone they use. The feature works in group chats, making it easy to create and share edited photos with friends in real time. Remix is available for Pixel 6 and above, plus all other Android devices with Google Messages in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, and New Zealand with RCS enabled.
Notification summaries and smarter alerts for Pixel 9
For Pixel 9 users and newer (excluding the 9a), notification summaries now condense lengthy text threads into quick recaps right in your notification shade. This makes catching up on busy group chats much faster, helping you identify what’s important without scrolling through dozens of messages. Coming in December, Google will further reduce notification overwhelm by organizing and silencing lower-priority alerts, saving you from unnecessary interruptions.
Scam detection expands to messages and more regions
Scam detection has expanded beyond phone calls to include chat notifications from popular messaging apps, automatically flagging suspicious messages with a “Likely scam” alert for Pixel 6 and newer devices in the US Additionally, the phone call scam detection feature that uses AI to identify common scammer speech patterns is now available to Pixel 9 and above users in the UK, Ireland, India, Australia, and Canada.
Personalized photo edits powered by your gallery
Google Photos is getting more personal with its new “Help me edit” feature, which can remove sunglasses, open closed eyes, or adjust expressions by pulling from labeled face groups in your gallery. You can ask Photos to make multiple edits at once, like “Remove Riley’s sunglasses, open my eyes, make Engel smile and open her eyes,” and the AI will apply changes using other pictures you’ve organized. This personalized editing feature is available for eligible Android users in the U.S.
Pixel VIPs and enhanced contact features
The November Pixel Drop introduces Pixel VIPs for Pixel 6 and above, which prioritizes message notifications from your closest friends and family throughout the day. VIPs also get a crisis badge in the Contacts widget, keeping you posted on critical alerts. This ensures you never miss important messages from the people who matter most, even when your phone is flooded with other notifications.
Power saving mode extends Maps battery life
Power Saving mode arrives in Google Maps for Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. When activated, you’ll see a simplified layout showing only key information like next turns while extending battery life up to four hours. This is especially useful during long road trips when you need directions but can’t access a charger.
Wicked themes and global expansion
Rounding out the November Pixel Drop are Wicked-themed packs available for Pixel 6 and above, featuring wallpapers, icons, and sounds inspired by the film. Users can choose from three styles: For Good, Glinda, and Elphaba. Call Notes is also expanding to more regions, including Australia, Canada, the U.K., Ireland, and Japan, using Gemini Nano to record calls, generate transcripts, and provide next-steps based on conversations.
