The First 100% Waterproof Self-Flying Camera

Published on:

Zero Zero Robotics has introduced the HOVERAir AQUA, the world’s first 100% waterproof, self-flying camera designed for water-based adventures. Launching today on Indiegogo with an early bird price of $999, AQUA promises hands-free aerial footage for paddlers, surfers, boaters, and just about anyone who spends their time near waves and wakes.

Designed for Life on the Water

Unlike traditional drones, AQUA is engineered to thrive in aquatic environments. It’s fully waterproof with an IP67 rating, neutrally buoyant for takeoff and landing on water, and resistant to fogging thanks to a hydrophobic lens coating. The compact design weighs under 249 grams, keeping it below FAA registration requirements, and it can handle Level 7 winds up to 33 knots.

Camera and Flight Features

AQUA is equipped with a 4K/100 fps slow-motion camera, a 1/1.28-inch CMOS sensor, HDR support, and a lens with self-heating, anti-fog technology. More than 15 automated flight modes, including a dedicated snorkel mode, let users capture smooth, cinematic shots without touching a controller. The drone’s maximum tracking speed of 34 mph keeps up with fast-moving activities, while its SmoothCapture 3.0 stabilization ensures steady footage. Flight time is rated at 23 minutes per charge.

Smarter Control with Lighthouse

HOVERAir AQUA introduces Lighthouse, a wrist-worn accessory that provides full control over the device, including takeoff, landing, and recording. Lighthouse also features a Virtual Tether that keeps the drone within range, automatically recalling it if it drifts too far. For those who prefer direct monitoring, AQUA has a built-in 1.6-inch AMOLED display for live previews and instant playback, eliminating the need to pair with a phone.

Availability and First Look

The HOVERAir AQUA campaign launched globally on Indiegogo, with early bird pricing starting at $999. Attendees at IFA Berlin (September 3–9, 2025) will be able to see the camera in action.
