Vision Series Possibly Gets Exciting Filming & Episode Count Update

Published on:

A mystery Marvel Cinematic Universe series has received a promising update regarding its filming and release date. As the MCU continues to expand, it keeps adding new feature-length and television projects to its slate. However, fans might be familiar with this one.

Marvel’s Vision Quest series might wrap filming in July

The official website of production designer Will Hughes-Jones states that the untitled MCU show he is part of will wrap production in July 2025 and come out on Disney+ sometime in 2026. Hughes-Jones’ website also mentions that Terry Matalas serves as the showrunner on the project, with Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Mary Livanos, Christopher J Byrne, Trevor Waterson, and Roopesh Parakh serving as producers. Other sources report that Hughes-Jones has one upcoming project, the untitled Vision series, a.k.a Vision Quest, for which Matalas is the writer and director.

Accordingly, it stands to reason that this mystery project from Hughes-Jones’ website is Vision Quest, and it is very close to wrapping filming. Vision Quest is the working title of the eight-episode TV show and will likely undergo a name change as it approaches its release date.

The announced cast of the series includes Paul Bettany as Vision, James Spader as Ultron, Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, and Ruaridh Mollica as Tucker.

A 2026 release date window was set for the Vision series as early as May 2024. Notably, Matalas previously served as a writer for Star Trek: Enterprise Season 3 and as showrunner on Star Trek: Picard. In September 2024, Marvel Studios’ head of streaming, television, and animation, Brad Winderbaum, told ComicBook.com that they brought in Matalas to develop the Vision series due to his work in the Star Trek franchise.

Bettany has been part of the MCU since the franchise’s early days, when he provided the voice of the artificial intelligence J.A.R.V.I.S. He appeared as Vision for the first time in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.
