Weekly poll results: the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is surprisingly popular

Last week’s poll ends with interesting results – the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is surprisingly popular. Okay, the plurality of people is turned away by its price, but those people still find the form factor appealing.

Add those who are willing to spend as much as necessary to get into the new form factor early plus those who are on the fence and are waiting and the Z TriFold crosses the 50% mark. It’s rare to see a fresh idea in the mobile space get so much support out of the gate – super-slim phones experienced the exact opposite situation.

What we find particularly interesting is how the Z TriFold outshone the Galaxy Z Fold7 in this poll. The Z Fold7 launch was the first time that it felt like Samsung had a foldable that could lure people away from the S Ultra. Sales numbers support that – in the US market, some 30% of Z Fold7 buyers were former S Ultra owners. Still, we would have thought that the thicker and heavier tri-fold model would be the niche product while the slimmer bi-fold would be the more popular option.

Samsung has cause for worry, though. The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate proved to be fairly popular despite having the deck stacked against it. As you may remember, the Mate XT Ultimate came first. However, Huawei (which was the largest Android maker at one point) was shut out of the global market – it is rebuilding, but it doesn’t have the reach that it used to.
